Experiences that support the work already happening in recovery.
Paths of Addiction Recovery connects adults participating in drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs with thoughtfully designed Nature Experiences, beginning in Prescott, Arizona.
Each experience is planned in cooperation with the partner organization and tailored to the abilities, needs, and goals of the people participating.
A NATURE EXPERIENCE MAY INCLUDE:
• Rock climbing and healthy risk assessment
• Kayaking, hiking, and time outdoors
• Writing, reflection, and nature connection
• Team challenges and shared responsibility
• Communication, confidence, and leadership
HOW IT WORKS
The partner organization helps determine who will participate and provides the recovery services, counseling, clinical care, and supervision appropriate for its clients.
Vertical Ecotones helps remove financial barriers and coordinates the Nature Experience with qualified professional outdoor providers.
Participants and partner organizations are responsible for transportation. When accessible transportation is needed, arrangements may be considered as part of planning the experience.
SAFETY AND PLANNING
Plans may address participant screening, equipment, permits, weather, emergency systems, accessibility, and guide qualifications.
Paths of Addiction Recovery is not a treatment program. Nature Experiences are intended to complement—not replace—clinical treatment, counseling, recovery services, or other support already being provided.
